The Achimota Golf Club successfully staged the 2026 Ocean Network Express (ONE) Pink Cup on October 17, 2026, combining high-level sporting competition with a vital health advocacy mission. This annual event serves as a platform to intensify breast cancer awareness, advocating for regular screening and early detection to save lives. Beyond education, the tournament addresses practical barriers to healthcare by raising funds to support patients who face significant financial difficulties in covering their treatment costs.
The competition on the greens saw impressive performances across multiple categories. Frederick Semenu Duv Duvor emerged as the winner of the men’s division, demonstrating exceptional skill to lead the field. In the women’s division, Letitia Amponsah-Mensah secured the top spot, highlighting the competitive spirit of the day. In addition to the primary trophies, organizers presented several individual awards to recognize specific achievements during play, emphasizing the tournament's dual focus on athletic excellence and social impact.
A notable highlight of the occasion was the presence of Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, who attended as the Special Guest of Honour. Her participation underscored the national importance of such initiatives in improving health outcomes for women. The proceeds generated from the tournament are traditionally donated to the Breast Cancer Unit at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and used to assist patients receiving care at Achimota Hospital. By integrating corporate sponsorship with community service, the Achimota Golf Club continues to play a significant role in the fight against breast cancer in Ghana.
