Adonten Senior High School has emerged as the winner of the 2026 National Business Pitch Competition, securing the top spot after a competitive finale themed "Augmenting Innovation." The school outperformed five other finalists to claim the championship, with Aburi Girls' Senior High School and Archbishop Potter Girls' Senior High School taking second and third places, respectively. The competition serves as the climax of a 16-week program designed to cultivate entrepreneurial thinking and practical business skills among Ghanaian students.
Throughout the program, participating students were tasked with developing and pitching business models that address specific societal needs. JA Ghana's Executive Director, Edem Amedi-Addie, commended the students for their creativity and resilience. She urged the young entrepreneurs to continue viewing environmental and social challenges as opportunities for innovation, emphasizing that the skills acquired during the competition are vital for their future careers and the broader economic development of the country.
Contributing to the discussion on youth empowerment, Dr. Michael Wilson highlighted the importance of such initiatives in the current job market. He noted that fostering a spirit of entrepreneurship is essential for the youth to create their own employment opportunities rather than relying solely on traditional job paths. The competition aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application, preparing students for the complexities of the modern business environment.
By winning the national title, Adonten Senior High School has earned the opportunity to represent Ghana at the African regional level of the competition. This upcoming stage will allow the students to present their business ideas to a wider audience and compete against other national winners from across the continent. The event underscores a growing commitment to developing the next generation of African business leaders and innovators.
