The 2026 African Music Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) has officially released its full list of nominees, marking another milestone for one of the continent’s most prestigious music recognition platforms. Since its inception in 2014, AFRIMMA has dedicated itself to celebrating the diverse cultural richness of Africa by honoring exceptional artists, producers, DJs, and industry professionals. This year’s nominations highlight the most impactful contributions to the African music scene over the past year, setting the stage for a high-stakes competition across various musical genres and technical fields.
The nominations cover a broad spectrum of categories, including the highly competitive Best Male and Best Female Artist titles for the West, East, Central, Southern, and North African regions. Beyond regional recognition, top honors such as Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and AFRIMMA Album of the Year are set to be the highlights of the upcoming ceremony. The awards also recognize technical and creative excellence through categories such as Music Producer of the Year, Best Video Director, and various DJ awards, including Best DJ Africa and Best African DJ USA. New talent is similarly spotlighted in the Best Newcomer category, ensuring the next generation of African stars is acknowledged alongside established icons.
Interestingly, AFRIMMA continues to expand its reach by incorporating categories that celebrate African influence in the wider entertainment and sports landscape. This year’s list includes the Crossing Boundaries with Music Award, African Athlete of the Year, Best Influencer, and Best Actor/Actress. The inclusion of the Community Impact Award and the AFRIMMA Timeless Impact Award underscores the organization’s commitment to recognizing those who use their platforms for social good and long-term industry growth. As anticipation builds for the awards ceremony, the full list of nominees serves as a testament to the vibrant and evolving nature of the African creative economy.
