British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from the hospital after a tragic car accident in Ogun State, Nigeria, that resulted in the deaths of two of his close friends, Sina Ghami and Kevin Latif Ayodele. The accident occurred on December 29, 2025, when their Lexus SUV collided with a stationary truck, reportedly due to a burst tyre. Joshua, who was in Nigeria for a holiday following a recent victory in Miami, sustained only minor injuries but expressed deep sorrow over the loss of his companions. Ghami, who had been Joshua's coach for over a decade, and Ayodele, a long-time friend, were both killed in the crash. Following the incident, a fundraiser in Ayodele's memory has successfully raised £37,000 for a mosque. Promoter Eddie Hearn and various figures from the boxing community have extended their condolences, highlighting the profound impact of this tragedy. Investigations into the accident are ongoing, with authorities yet to release an official statement.
