Ghana Honors Late CLOGSAG Leader Isaac Bampoe Addo as Fatal Crash Claims Immigration Officer

Ghana's public and security sectors are mourning following two separate but significant events: a high-profile remembrance service for the late Executive Secretary of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), Isaac Bampoe Addo, and a tragic motorbike accident in Assin Fosu that claimed the life of an immigration officer. The remembrance service, held at Winners Chapel International in Accra, drew a distinguished gathering of state officials and public servants, while the fatal crash in the Central North Region has left a police officer in critical condition and a family grieving a sudden loss. Together, these events have underscored the sacrifices made by those serving in Ghana's administrative and security institutions.

The remembrance service for Mr. Bampoe Addo was attended by First Lady Lordina Mahama, alongside former Electoral Commission Chairperson Charlotte Osei and Defence Minister Kenneth Gilbert Adjei. National Pastor Ben Andrew, delivering a message of service and reflection, urged those present to honor Addo's legacy by recommitting themselves to the service of God and humanity. The service provided a moment of national recognition for Bampoe Addo's long-standing leadership at CLOGSAG, where he was a prominent figure in public service administration and labor advocacy.

In a somber development elsewhere, an immigration officer identified as Amoako, known by the nickname Ahuoden, was killed in a motorbike crash in Assin Fosu at approximately 1:00 AM. The officer was reportedly returning from a pub with a colleague from the police service when the accident occurred. Eyewitnesses at the scene rushed both victims to the St Francis Xavier Hospital, where Amoako was tragically pronounced dead on arrival. The accompanying police officer sustained severe injuries, including fractures to his arm and leg, and remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The Central North Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) has confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the specific causes of the fatal accident. As the nation reflects on the life and contributions of Isaac Bampoe Addo, the sudden death of a young immigration officer serves as a reminder of the hazards faced by personnel in the line of duty. These events highlight the ongoing need for road safety vigilance and the continuous support for the families of those who serve the Ghanaian state in various capacities.
