The Berekum West District Assembly has been recognized as the second-best performing assembly in the Bono Region, according to the 2025 Annual District Performance Assessment Tool (DPAT X) results. Scoring 60 points, the district trailed only the Berekum East Assembly, which secured the top position with 65 points. This assessment highlights the assembly’s commitment to administrative excellence and service delivery within the region. District Chief Executive (DCE) Mr. Collins Asoma attributed the achievement to diligent leadership, a high level of professionalism among staff, and the strategic utilization of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF). Mr. Asoma emphasized that the success was a collective effort involving traditional authorities and local stakeholders. He further revealed that the assembly has made significant strides in infrastructure, having completed and handed over 50 out of 70 development projects planned for the 2025 fiscal year. While the Bono Region celebrates administrative milestones, security concerns have surfaced in the Upper West Region. Member of Parliament for Sissala West, Mohammed Adams Sukparu, has called for immediate restraint following violent clashes between the Buo and Tiwii communities. The land-related dispute tragically resulted in two deaths and several injuries, prompting the deployment of security forces to the area to restore order and prevent further escalation. MP Sukparu expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families, stressing that "no land is worth a human life." He urged the feuding parties to cooperate with law enforcement and seek peaceful resolutions through established legal and traditional channels rather than resorting to violence. These contrasting developments underscore the dual challenges of governance in Ghana: maintaining high administrative standards to drive development while managing complex communal sensitivities to preserve peace.
