Sarkodie describes Stonebwoy as an acquaintance rather than a friend

Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has clarified the nature of his relationship with fellow musician Stonebwoy, stating that while they are well-acquainted, they do not share a close friendship. Speaking in an interview with Serwaa Amihere, the award-winning artiste explained that his definition of friendship requires a level of trust and vulnerability that does not currently exist between the two stars. He noted that knowing someone well in the industry does not automatically translate to a deep personal bond, emphasizing that he values relationships built on mutual confidentiality. During the discussion, Sarkodie also addressed a specific controversy involving a social media post of a one-legged man dancing, which some fans interpreted as a mockery of Stonebwoy following his Wembley Arena concert. The rapper denied any malicious intent behind the post and stated he has no regrets about sharing it. He explained that the backlash was a result of public interpretation and narratives rather than his actual motives, maintaining that the video was never intended to target or belittle his colleague. The rapper further touched upon long-standing complaints from fellow musicians, including Samini, Edem, and Kofi Mole, regarding his reputation for not answering phone calls or responding to messages. Sarkodie defended his communication style, clarifying that he fundamentally prefers face-to-face interactions over phone conversations. He stressed that his lack of responsiveness is not a sign of a grudge or disrespect but rather a personal preference for genuine, in-person engagement. Sarkodie concluded by highlighting his ability to move past grievances, noting that he does not let critical opinions interfere with his professional relationships. He shared that he has previously reconciled with artists who criticized him, provided their behavior is not consistently negative. By setting these boundaries, the rapper sought to distinguish between his professional interactions and the personal trust he reserves for those he considers true friends.
