GLIDA launches in Accra to bridge academic and workplace skills gap

The Global Leadership, Innovation and Development Academy (GLIDA) has officially launched in Accra, aiming to address the persistent divide between academic qualifications and practical workplace requirements. Founded by Riffath-Yakub Abubakar, the academy is positioned to equip modern professionals with the specialized competencies needed to navigate complex local and global environments. By focusing on practical application rather than purely theoretical instruction, the institution seeks to enhance the professional capacity of Ghana's workforce through specialized training modules. The academy offers a diverse curriculum tailored to high-level professional needs, covering essential pillars such as leadership, entrepreneurship, diplomacy, innovation, and governance. These programmes are specifically designed for a broad spectrum of career paths, including business executives, diplomats, and leaders within the public sector. Through structured training and professional certification, GLIDA intends to provide its students with tangible credentials that reflect their readiness for senior-level responsibilities and strategic decision-making in their respective fields. Beyond traditional classroom instruction, GLIDA emphasizes industry exposure and networking as core components of its educational model. The academy aims to facilitate collaboration between participants and industry veterans, creating a platform for shared experiences and professional growth. By complementing existing educational structures with this practical, industry-aligned approach, the academy hopes to foster a new generation of leaders capable of driving innovation and sustainable development across both the private and public sectors of the economy.
