Jomoro Member of Parliament (MP) Dorcas Affo-Toffey has provided financial support to popular Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkrumah, better known as Lil Win, for his latest cinematic production. The project, titled 'A Journey to Africa', is currently being filmed at Nzulezu, the renowned stilt village in the Western Region. This contribution is part of an effort to promote the creative arts and highlight the cultural significance of the Jomoro constituency through film.
The donation was officially presented on behalf of the MP by the Jomoro Municipal Chief Executive, Benedict Boadi, at the filming location. The production has attracted international collaboration, featuring several prominent actors from Nigeria who have joined the Ghanaian cast on set. By choosing Nzulezu as a primary location, the production team aims to leverage the village's unique architecture and heritage to provide an authentic backdrop for the narrative.
Traditional authorities have also expressed their support for the initiative. The Paramount Chief of the Western Nzema Traditional Area, Awulae Kwasi Amakyi III, visited the film set to observe the production process and interact with the cast. During the visit, the Chief commended the investment in the creative industry and encouraged the promotion of local tourism through such projects. He further indicated his support for the filmmaker's future plans to produce a movie documenting the life and legacy of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
This partnership between local political leadership, traditional authorities, and the creative sector reflects a growing trend of utilizing the arts to stimulate the local economy. By supporting 'A Journey to Africa', the MP and the Paramount Chief are positioning the Jomoro area as a viable hub for film tourism and cultural storytelling in Ghana.
