Feminine Star Africa has taken a significant step toward closing the gender gap in sports by donating a comprehensive range of football equipment to schools within the Ho Municipality. The donation, which took place during the 'Women First Symposium,' was designed to foster the growth of girls' football and provide young female athletes with the resources necessary to excel. The Ho Municipal Chief Executive presented the items, which included footballs, jerseys, boots, training bibs, and water bottles, to beneficiary institutions including OLA Senior High School, Mawuli Senior High School, and Ho Bankoe RC Girls.
Central to the event was a practical Soccer Clinic led by international coach Michael Stewart. The clinic provided students with hands-on training and tactical drills, but the instruction reached far beyond the technical aspects of the game. Coach Stewart emphasized the development of critical life skills, such as effective communication, teamwork, and leadership. By focusing on these attributes, the program sought to empower the participants both on and off the pitch, helping them build the confidence needed to pursue their athletic and academic ambitions.
The initiative has been met with high praise from local authorities and school officials, who noted that such support is vital for encouraging more girls to engage in football at the school level. For many of the beneficiary schools, the lack of proper equipment has historically been a barrier to female participation in competitive sports. The provision of these items is expected to inspire a new wave of interest and allow the schools to better represent themselves in regional and national competitions.
Looking ahead, the Women First Symposium aims to establish a sustainable model for female empowerment through sports. Feminine Star Africa, in partnership with Leadership Solutions, plans to continue the initiative with more sports clinics and mentorship programs across the Volta Region. These efforts are designed to create a pipeline for young female talent while ensuring that sports remains a vehicle for personal growth and social development for girls in Ghana.
