Fidelity Bank Bolsters Police Infrastructure as Government Advances Nationwide Power and Road Projects

Fidelity Bank Ghana has reinforced its commitment to national security and community development by completing a major renovation of the Multipurpose Auditorium at the Police Public Safety Training School (PPSTS) in Pwalugu. This project coincides with significant state-led infrastructure initiatives, including a nationwide transition to solar-powered streetlights and intensive road construction in the Bono East Region, signaling a concerted effort between the private and public sectors to upgrade Ghana’s institutional and physical assets.

The refurbished auditorium at PPSTS marks a decade of partnership between Fidelity Bank and the Ghana Police Service. During the formal handover ceremony, Harold Ansah, Head of Personal Banking at Fidelity Bank, emphasized that the investment aims to provide a functional space for training and conferences, which is essential for professionalizing the force. ACP Dr. Wilson Aniagyei, head of the training school, expressed gratitude for the bank's consistent support, noting that the modernized facility will directly benefit the training of new recruits and enhance public safety efforts across the country.

In the energy sector, the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has issued a final warning to individuals and businesses encroaching on high-voltage transmission line Right-of-Way (RoW) zones, setting a strict vacation deadline for September 12, 2026. This enforcement follows the recent repair of a tower on the 161kV Tema-Achimota line, which caused temporary power disruptions. Complementing this focus on grid stability, Roads and Highways Minister Governs Kwame Agbodza announced that the government will replace conventional streetlights with solar-powered systems. This transition, led by Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor, is designed to reduce the impact of individual electrical faults and ensure public lighting remains resilient regardless of national grid status.

Meanwhile, infrastructure development is progressing rapidly in the Nkoranza North District of the Bono East Region, where road projects valued at over GH₵790 million are currently underway. Launched in November 2025 and slated for completion by March 2028, the works include the Bono Manso-Kranka-Pinihi road and other vital routes to local markets. These critical feeder roads are expected to transform the local economy by improving access for the district's farming population and boosting tourism, further demonstrating the government’s commitment to rural connectivity and economic growth.

Collectively, these developments highlight a strategic focus on bolstering both the security and economic infrastructure of the nation. While Fidelity Bank’s contribution addresses the immediate needs of law enforcement training, the government's dual focus on energy independence through solar technology and rural road connectivity seeks to create a more resilient national framework. As deadlines for grid safety and road completions approach, the successful execution of these projects will be pivotal in sustaining Ghana’s long-term developmental momentum.
