The government of Ghana and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) have successfully resolved all outstanding issues related to a crucial US$750 million facility, originally signed in 2022. This resolution, announced on December 25, 2023, marks a significant milestone in Ghana's ongoing efforts to stabilize its economy amid an International Monetary Fund (IMF) program. The loan, which was approved in July 2022, is intended to support various financial needs as the country grapples with economic challenges. It has been disbursed in tranches, contingent upon the fulfillment of specific conditions. The successful negotiation reflects a commitment from both the Ghanaian government and Afreximbank to foster ongoing cooperation, which is essential for the nation's development and improving relations with creditors.
