On December 24, 2025, the Ghana Armed Forces executed the removal of Alhaji Seidu Abagre from his position in Bawku, a decision stemming from a mediation report by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene. This report was subsequently submitted to President John Dramani Mahama, who confirmed that Abagre is currently safe and under the protection of security officials. The Asantehene's mediation emphasized the importance of adhering to the Supreme Court's ruling, which recognizes Asigri Abugrago Azoka II as the legitimate Bawku Naba. The call for respect towards this ruling aims to restore peace in the conflict-ridden region of Bawku, highlighting the ongoing tensions surrounding chieftaincy disputes in the area.
