The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has intensified its support for four sisters who were rescued and placed in a safe shelter following allegations of sexual abuse by their father. The ministry is currently providing the siblings with a comprehensive package of psychosocial support and academic care to aid their recovery from the trauma. This intervention is part of the state's broader mandate to protect vulnerable children and provide a secure environment for victims of domestic violence.
A recent assessment conducted by Malonin Asibi and a team of ministry staff revealed that the girls have shown marked improvements in both their emotional well-being and their academic performance since entering the shelter. During the visit, the ministry officials presented a donation of essential items to the facility to assist in meeting the girls' immediate needs. The siblings expressed their profound gratitude for the personal concern shown by the Minister, noting that they finally feel safe and supported in their new environment.
Beyond providing immediate care, the MoGCSP is working closely with the Judiciary and the Ghana Police Service to monitor the legal aspects of the case. The ministry is advocating for an expedited legal process to ensure that justice is served swiftly and that the sisters can eventually be reunited with their mother. Officials emphasized that the safety and long-term stability of the children remain the primary focus as they navigate the complexities of the judicial system.
