GMet Issues National Weather Alert for Thunderstorms, Rain, and Rough Sea Conditions

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued an urgent weather advisory for the evening of September 12, predicting widespread thunderstorms and varying intensities of rainfall across several parts of the country. According to the agency's latest forecast, while some regions will experience active storm cells and heavy downpours, other areas are expected to remain under mostly cloudy conditions throughout the night. This weather pattern is part of a series of atmospheric disturbances that GMet is currently monitoring to provide timely and accurate updates to the general public.

As the storm system moves through the country, GMet expects atmospheric conditions to shift by early Sunday morning. Coastal, forest, and mountainous regions are specifically highlighted as likely areas to experience significant mist and fog patches. These conditions could significantly impact visibility for early-morning commuters and long-distance travelers. Additionally, the agency anticipates that slight to moderate rainfall will persist into the morning hours within specific coastal and forest belts, potentially leading to damp and slippery conditions as the new day begins.

Beyond the immediate rainfall and inland atmospheric disturbances, the agency has raised a specific alarm regarding maritime safety. The current sea state is reported as rough, with GMet advising fishermen, coastal residents, and the general public to exercise extreme caution. The agency emphasizes that safety precautions are essential as these weather conditions continue to develop and evolve. Citizens are urged to stay informed through official meteorological channels and to take the necessary steps to protect life and property during this period of inclement weather.
