H Merced urges Ghanaian artists to collaborate with Latin musicians

Puerto Rican musician H Merced has called on Ghanaian artists to forge strategic partnerships with Latin American musicians to enhance their global appeal. Speaking on the potential of the local music industry, Merced highlighted that Ghanaian music is increasingly ready for the international stage. He asserted that such collaborations are essential for creating valuable cross-cultural connections that can help local talent reach a broader worldwide audience.

During his assessment of the Ghanaian music scene, H Merced identified specific talents he believes are primed for international breakthroughs. He named Afro-fusion singer Amaarae, highlife and afrobeats star KiDi, and dancehall heavyweight Shatta Wale as artists who possess the necessary style and appeal to resonate with Latin audiences. By merging the rhythmic structures of West Africa with the melodic influences of the Latin world, he believes these artists can effectively transcend linguistic and geographical barriers.

To illustrate the potential success of such ventures, Merced pointed to the partnership between Colombian superstar Shakira and Nigerian artist Burna Boy as a successful model for cross-cultural music projects. He emphasized that these types of high-profile collaborations introduce African sounds to Latin America and vice versa, creating a blueprint for future artistic exchanges. Merced also expressed his personal commitment to this vision, stating his desire to further merge his own Latin influences with Ghanaian music following his growing relationship with the country's industry.

The push for international synergy reflects a growing recognition of the global potential of Ghanaian talent. By aligning with Latin influences, Merced suggests that local artists can further solidify their presence on the world stage and tap into new markets. As he continues to build his own connections within Ghana, the Puerto Rican musician remains optimistic that these cultural bridges will foster a new era of artistic growth and international visibility for West African performers.
