Bournemouth Coach Andoni Iraola Discusses Antoine Semenyo's Future Amid Transfer Speculations

Manchester United lose 4-1 to Como in the Champions League

Manchester United’s European campaign hit a new low as they suffered a 4-1 defeat against Italian side Como in the UEFA Champions League. The loss has placed head coach Michael Carrick’s future under intense scrutiny and triggered internal friction within the squad. This performance also saw United set an unwanted record, becoming the first English club to concede a goal within the opening two minutes of two consecutive European matches. The match was dominated by Como, led by Argentine playmaker Nico Paz, who opened the scoring almost immediately and later added a second. Tasos Douvikas and Jacobo Ramon further extended the lead to complete a comprehensive rout of the English giants. Manchester United struggled to find any rhythm throughout the contest, with their only response being a late consolation goal from striker Joshua Zirkzee. Carrick's post-match demeanour was noted for its striking similarity to that of his predecessor, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, during past periods of poor form. Following the whistle, captain Bruno Fernandes publicly questioned the tactics employed by Carrick. Fernandes suggested that the team needed a more aggressive approach and stated that it is the coaching staff's responsibility to identify and rectify the tactical issues plaguing the side. Despite these comments potentially undermining the manager's authority, United leadership has confirmed that Fernandes will not face disciplinary action and will remain the club's captain, citing internal sympathy for his frustration following the nature of the defeat. The situation has drawn sharp criticism from club legend Wayne Rooney, who labelled the current squad as "selfish" and "babies" for their lack of accountability on the pitch. Manchester United are currently enduring a dismal run of form, having gone seven games without a victory across all competitions. While Carrick is expected to remain in charge for the upcoming Premier League fixture against Bournemouth, the pressure continues to mount as supporters voice their dissatisfaction with the club’s management and direction.
