Liberia’s Vice President, Jeremiah Koung, has arrived in Accra, Ghana, to participate in the upcoming Mining in Motion Summit 2026. Upon his arrival on October 16, 2026, he was formally received by Ghana’s Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah. The high-level visit underscores the growing commitment to regional collaboration among West African nations regarding the management and strategic alignment of natural resources.
The three-day summit, scheduled to run from October 19 to 21, is organized under the theme ‐One Continent. One Voice on Minerals – Aligning Africa’s Mineral Future.‑ Activities for the event will be hosted at two primary locations in the capital: Destiny Arena and the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel. The summit is designed to serve as a platform for African leaders, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to converge and develop a unified approach to the continent’s mineral wealth, moving away from fragmented policies.
The gathering aims to address the various systemic challenges currently facing the African mining industry while exploring new opportunities for intra-continental cooperation. By fostering a ‐one voice‑ approach, participants hope to strengthen Africa’s position in the global minerals market and ensure that the extraction of natural resources leads to sustainable economic development across the region. Vice President Koung’s participation highlights the importance Liberia attaches to these regional dialogues and the shared goal of maximizing mineral value chains for local benefit.
