Ghanaian Highlife icon Kojo Antwi, affectionately known as the "Music Man," has shared profound insights into his creative process and the discipline required to maintain a legendary career. Speaking in an interview on StarrChat with host Bola Ray, the veteran musician revealed that he intentionally crafts his music with a female audience in mind. This strategic approach has allowed him to successfully embody the "lover boy" persona that has defined his brand for decades, making his discography a staple in Ghanaian romantic and social life for several generations.
Beyond the melodies, Antwi opened up about the complexities of fame and the various temptations that come with being a national star. He credited his enduring stability to the unwavering support of his wife, who plays an active role in his professional journey. By accompanying him on many of his travels and attending public events by his side, she provides a grounding influence that helps him avoid compromising situations. Antwi emphasized that this partnership, coupled with divine grace, has been his primary defense against the pressures inherent in the entertainment industry, allowing him to stay out of the trouble that often plagues public figures.
Interestingly, the "Music Man" noted that while his songs resonate with millions, he has only written specific tracks for a very few select individuals throughout his career. Instead, he prioritizes his family and partner in his creative expressions, ensuring that his personal values align with his public art. This rare glimpse into his private life underscores a narrative of intentionality and discipline, suggesting that for Kojo Antwi, the secret to a long-lasting career lies as much in one's character and support system as it does in musical talent. His reflections offer a masterclass in balancing a high-profile career with a stable personal life.
