The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially sanctioned the Chief Executive Officer of Bibiani Gold Stars, Kwasi Adu, following a series of incidents during a recent competitive fixture. The GFA Disciplinary Committee handed down a three-match ban and a GH₵10,000 fine after Adu was found guilty of misconduct. This decision comes in the wake of the club's 2-1 defeat to Hearts of Oak, a match that saw tensions flare on and off the pitch.
According to the findings of the football governing body, Adu was found to have breached perimeter restrictions at the stadium. Furthermore, the CEO was cited for verbally assaulting match officials, an act that the GFA considers a serious violation of the rules governing professional conduct in the league. These actions were reportedly triggered during or after the competitive clash, leading to a formal investigation by the association.
The financial penalty of GH₵10,000 must be settled within 14 days, as stipulated by the Disciplinary Committee’s ruling. The three-match ban is effective immediately, meaning Adu will be unable to represent the club or perform official duties within the designated areas during Gold Stars' upcoming fixtures. The GFA has emphasized that these measures are necessary to maintain order and respect for match officials within the domestic game.
In its concluding remarks on the matter, the GFA issued a stern warning to both the CEO and Bibiani Gold Stars. The association indicated that any future instances of misconduct would result in even more severe consequences. This ruling serves as a reminder to all club executives regarding the standards of behavior expected toward match officials, regardless of the results on the field.
