In a recent podcast episode of 'The Good, The Bad, The Football,' former Manchester United players Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes discussed current defender Lisandro Martinez's emotional reaction to their playful jabs regarding his height before a crucial derby match against Manchester City. While Butt praised Martinez for his solid defensive performance in the team's 2-0 victory, he criticized the defender for being overly sensitive about their teasing, suggesting that he should toughen up in light of media scrutiny.
This exchange underscores the complicated relationship between the legendary Class of 92 and the current squad, as both Butt and Scholes expressed a desire for unity and success at the club despite existing tensions. Martinez, however, revealed his dissatisfaction with the comments made by Scholes, indicating that past grievances remain unresolved. The discussion reflects broader themes of player conduct, emotional resilience, and the importance of open communication within the club, highlighting the ongoing dynamics between former and current players at Manchester United.
