President John Dramani Mahama has wrapped up his two-day "Resetting Ghana" tour of the Ahafo Region, concluding a series of high-level community engagements and infrastructure inspections. During a Citizens’ Engagement session in the regional capital, Goaso, the President expressed his gratitude to residents for their support in the 2024 elections, which saw the National Democratic Congress (NDC) secure five of the six parliamentary seats in the region. He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to ensuring equitable national development and enhancing governance at the grassroots level.
A central highlight of the tour was the President's announcement regarding national infrastructure improvements. Mahama pledged that his government would undertake comprehensive road rehabilitation in all regional capitals across Ghana. This initiative is slated for completion ahead of the nation’s 70th Independence Anniversary celebrations. These works are expected to fall under the broader Big Push Infrastructure Development Programme, which aims to modernize the country’s transport network and stimulate regional economies.
Beyond infrastructure, President Mahama used the regional tour to outline critical social interventions. He highlighted the Free Primary Healthcare Initiative and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, also known as MahamaCares, as central pillars of his administration’s health policy. The visit also featured a town hall-style dialogue moderated by Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, where the President directly addressed the concerns of traditional leaders, farmers, and local citizens regarding agricultural improvements and economic stability.
The tour was also marked by moments of personal connection, one of which gained significant attention on social media. After receiving a handshake from the President, an enthusiastic resident celebrated with Cristiano Ronaldo’s signature "Siuuu" gesture, a moment captured in a video that went viral. The President concluded the tour by emphasizing that his administration remains focused on transparency and direct engagement as he continues to implement the "Resetting Ghana" agenda across the various regions.
