Mansie Residents Demand Urgent Infrastructure Intervention Over Deplorable Roads and Network Gaps

Residents of Mansie, a farming community in the Kintampo South District of the Bono East Region, are calling for immediate government intervention to address a severe infrastructure deficit. Despite being home to over a thousand residents and boasting fertile agricultural lands, the community remains isolated due to dilapidated road networks and a total lack of reliable telecommunication services. This dual crisis has transcended mere inconvenience, with local leaders reporting that the lack of access to emergency services has resulted in avoidable loss of life, particularly during medical emergencies.

The road conditions are particularly dire for the most vulnerable members of the community. Local reports indicate that pregnant women and the critically ill have suffered significantly, as the bad roads hinder the arrival of transport and access to distant health facilities. Unit Committee Chairman Patrick Mensah has voiced the community's deep-seated frustration, alleging that Mansie has been historically neglected by both major political parties. According to Mensah, political leaders typically only engage with the town during election cycles to solicit votes, leaving the area's developmental needs unaddressed once the polls are closed.

Adding to the community's physical isolation is a significant digital divide. The absence of a stable telecommunications signal forces residents to trek to a specific "makeshift spot" just to catch a signal for phone calls or internet access. This lack of connectivity has severely impacted the youth, making it nearly impossible to seek employment, conduct business, or access educational resources online. The frustration among the younger population has reached a boiling point, with leaders now planning demonstrations to urge the government to provide the essential services required for modern life.

In a bid to mobilize support and unify the town, the newly enskinned Chief of Mansie, Nnaa Gyintadua Kwame Siakwan III, has utilized the community’s Yam Festival as a platform for advocacy. The Chief emphasized that improved infrastructure, including a functioning market and better roads, is essential to unlocking the town's vast potential in agriculture and trade. As the community waits for a tangible response from the central government, the leadership remains firm in its demand that Mansie be included in the national development agenda to prevent further hardship and loss of life.
