Bishop Daniel Obinim, the founder and leader of the International God’s Way Church, has publicly cautioned his estranged wife, gospel musician Florence Obinim, to desist from discussing their marital challenges during media interviews. The warning follows a series of public exchanges that have captured national attention, as the former couple’s relationship appears to further deteriorate in the public eye. In a viral TikTok video, the clergyman urged Florence to use her platform exclusively for promoting her professional work rather than delving into their private lives, suggesting she should explicitly state her purpose on such shows to avoid questions about their marriage.
The tension between the two has been further exacerbated by Bishop Obinim’s dismissive reaction to a recent gift Florence received. After the gospel singer publicly acknowledged receiving a Toyota RAV4 from Service Machinery Ghana Limited, the Bishop took to social media to ridicule the vehicle, labeling it as "outdated." During this critique, he reiterated his demand for her to refrain from discussing their failed marriage, hinting that he might be forced to speak out and share his own perspective if she continues to address their domestic issues on radio or television platforms.
This escalating public spat has drawn concern from prominent figures within the Ghanaian entertainment industry. Renowned music producer Fred Kyei Mensah, popularly known as Fredyma, has intervened by calling for restraint from both parties. In a statement shared on Facebook, Fredyma emphasized that the public airing of their grievances could have long-term negative consequences, particularly for their children and their standing within the community. He urged the couple to consider the societal impact of their ruckus and to seek a more private path toward reconciliation or resolution.
As the situation continues to unfold, the transition from a private marital struggle to a public spectacle highlights the ongoing tensions between personal privacy and public celebrity in Ghana. While Florence Obinim has yet to issue a formal response to these latest warnings and criticisms from her husband, the public discourse surrounding their separation serves as a significant talking point regarding the complexities of navigating divorce within the spotlight of the ministry and the media industry.
