Polish police have arrested a 21-year-old woman in Warsaw following a knife attack at a school that left three people injured. The incident occurred during an enrollment event when the suspect reportedly attacked individuals who were in the process of submitting documents. This latest violence marks the third knife-related attack in a Polish school within a single week, sparking urgent national concerns over student safety and school security.
The victims of the attack include a 17-year-old girl and two other women, aged 17 and 24. Emergency services responded to the scene at the Warsaw school where the suspect was quickly apprehended. While the specific condition of the victims has not been detailed, the authorities have moved to secure educational facilities and ensure the safety of other students and staff. The attack interrupted what should have been a routine administrative process for new and prospective students.
In response to the surge in school violence, Polish authorities have significantly increased security measures across educational institutions nationwide. Prime Minister Donald Tusk addressed the situation, emphasizing that the safety of children and staff in schools must be uncompromised. As part of a broader crackdown following the recent wave of attacks, police have already detained 76 individuals across the country. One previous incident in the past week resulted in a fatality, further heightening the sense of alarm within the Polish public.
Investigators are currently exploring the possibility that these recent attacks are linked to a dangerous internet challenge circulating on social media. This theory has prompted calls for better digital monitoring and increased psychological support within the school system. As the investigation into the 21-year-old woman's motives continues, the government remains under pressure to provide a permanent solution to the sudden rise in school-based knife crimes.
