Ras Kuuku Condemns Sarkodie Over "Inappropriate" Video Following Stonebwoy’s OVO Concert

Reggae musician Ras Kuuku has launched a stinging critique against rapper Sarkodie, labeling a recent social media post by the rapper as "inappropriate" and harmful to the unity of the Ghanaian music industry. The criticism follows the conclusion of Stonebwoy’s highly anticipated OVO concert, a moment that many expected would be a period of collective celebration for the nation's creative arts. Instead, a video shared by Sarkodie on his social media platforms, which depicted a physically disabled man walking, has triggered a wave of controversy and condemnation from peers and fans alike.

In an interview with 3Music, Ras Kuuku did not mince words as he addressed the implications of the rapper's post. "That video alone speaks a lot," Kuuku remarked, suggesting that the visual content was far from an innocent share. The Reggae artist pointed out that mocking or using a physically challenged person for social media engagement is beneath the status of a global icon like Sarkodie. He argued that the timing of the post, appearing so soon after a rival artist’s success, could be interpreted as a slight or a distraction from the positive momentum Stonebwoy had generated for the country.

The core of Ras Kuuku's grievance lies in the perceived lack of support and the potential for division within the entertainment sector. He emphasized that for Ghanaian music to truly thrive on the international stage, established stars must prioritize unity and decorum. By sharing content that can be viewed as derogatory toward individuals with disabilities, Kuuku believes Sarkodie has set a poor example for the youth and for the industry at large. He urged his colleagues to be more mindful of the messages they project, particularly during times when the spotlight is on Ghanaian talent.

As the fallout from the post continues to dominate entertainment headlines, the incident highlights the delicate balance between personal expression and public responsibility for high-profile figures. While fans of Sarkodie have often defended his cryptic social media style, critics like Ras Kuuku are calling for more transparency and empathy in how digital platforms are used. This development adds another layer to the ongoing competitive dynamics within the Ghanaian music scene, suggesting that even a silent post can resonate loudly across the cultural landscape.
