Rapper Rick Ross Arrested in Miami on Domestic Violence and Felony Battery Charges

American rapper Rick Ross, born William Leonard Roberts II, was arrested in Miami early Thursday morning following allegations of domestic violence. The founder of Maybach Music Group was booked at approximately 6:10 a.m. on charges of battery by strangulation, a felony, and a misdemeanor count of battery. Following a court appearance, Ross was released on a $5,000 bond. The arrest stems from an incident that allegedly took place at the rapper's Star Island residence on August 28, which was subsequently reported to the police on September 29. The accuser has been identified as Ross’s ex-girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick, who recently shared images of physical injuries on social media that she claims were inflicted by the artist. According to police reports, Kendrick alleged that the rapper struck her and restricted her breathing during the August confrontation. Despite the delayed reporting of the incident, the allegations led to a warrant and Ross's subsequent decision to turn himself in to authorities. In addition to the financial terms of his release, a judge has issued a stay-away order, strictly prohibiting Ross from contacting the alleged victim or visiting specific locations associated with her. Ross and his legal team have vehemently denied the accusations, characterizing them as entirely fabricated. His attorney maintains that the rapper is being wrongfully accused and has entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf. Ross himself has requested that the public refrain from passing judgment until the legal process concludes. This is not the rapper's first encounter with the law; he has a documented history of legal challenges, including a 2015 case involving charges of kidnapping and aggravated assault, which eventually resulted in a plea deal. The legal proceedings are set to move forward later this month, with an arraignment scheduled for October 22. If the case proceeds to trial, the felony charge of battery by strangulation could carry significant legal consequences for the artist. For now, Ross remains at liberty while his defense team prepares to challenge the validity of the claims in court.
