Beverly Afaglo dies at 42 after battle with triple-negative breast cancer

Ghanaian actress Beverly Afaglo has passed away at the age of 42 following a struggle with triple-negative breast cancer. Her family confirmed that she died in May 2026, approximately six weeks after receiving a terminal medical prognosis that gave her just two months to live. Despite the grim outlook from her doctors, those close to her noted that the actress remained remarkably hopeful and resistant to discussions about her impending death. Providing details on her health journey, the actress’s sister, Mama Fiawotoe I, explained that the illness first became apparent when Beverly discovered a lump. This discovery led to a series of intensive medical treatments, including radiation therapy and surgical intervention. However, the condition eventually worsened as the cancer became more aggressive. Doctors ultimately informed the family that the disease had metastasized, spreading to other parts of her body and limiting further treatment options. In a final attempt to secure life-saving care, the family explored medical possibilities in the United States, but they were informed that there was little hope for a full recovery. Mama Fiawotoe I shared that throughout this period, Beverly maintained a positive spirit, preferring to focus on the possibility of a miracle rather than the clinical timeline provided by her physicians. Her passing marks the end of a battle with one of the most aggressive forms of breast cancer. The death of the popular actress has highlighted the challenges associated with triple-negative breast cancer, which is often more difficult to treat than other subtypes due to its lack of common receptors. Beverly Afaglo’s legacy in the Ghanaian film industry and her public fight against the disease have drawn significant attention to the importance of early detection and the need for enhanced support systems for patients facing terminal diagnoses.
