Professor Samuel Kofi Afrane, the immediate past Vice-Chancellor of Christian Service University (CSU), has been honored with the launch of a 334-page festschrift to celebrate his decade of service. The book, titled "Planning, Leadership and Sustainable Development: A Festschrift in Honour of Professor Samuel Kofi Afrane," was officially unveiled during a send-off service organized by the university. The event marked the conclusion of Professor Afrane’s ten-year tenure, during which he was credited with transforming the institution through his academic and administrative leadership.
The publication is a collaborative effort featuring 11 chapters written by 22 different authors, including esteemed scholars and colleagues. The book explores complex themes surrounding urban planning, leadership dynamics, and the frameworks required for sustainable development. These topics were specifically chosen to reflect Professor Afrane’s professional background and the academic legacy he leaves behind at CSU. The festschrift is designed to act as both a tribute and a resource for students and academics interested in the intersection of governance and development.
During the ceremony, the Chancellor of CSU, Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel K. Asante, praised Professor Afrane’s dedication to the university’s mission. He noted that the outgoing Vice-Chancellor’s visionary approach had significantly enhanced the institution’s academic profile and strengthened its ties with the community. As Professor Afrane transitions from his role, the launch of this book provides a permanent record of his influence on scholarship and institutional building, ensuring his professional contributions remain accessible to the next generation of academic leaders.
