Ghanaian Music Industry Celebrates Unity at MoMoFest and Global Recognition via Chelsea FC Anthem

The Ghanaian entertainment landscape is currently witnessing a significant push for unity and international representation, led by some of the country’s biggest musical stars. At the MoMoFest X ShattaFest in Adaklu, Dancehall icon Shatta Wale took a bold step toward industry harmony by performing 'Putuu,' a hit song by his long-time rival Stonebwoy. Organized by MobileMoney Fintech Ltd., the event became a platform for Shatta Wale to preach love over rivalry, urging the youth to support local talent. He specifically highlighted the creative wealth of the Volta Region, paying tribute to fellow artists such as Edem and Stonebwoy in a move that resonated deeply with the large crowd in attendance.

On the global stage, Ghanaian creativity is reaching new heights through a collaboration between producer Ray Michael Djan Jr. and Chelsea FC. Djan Jr. co-wrote and produced the football club’s new anthem, 'Can’t Tame Us,' featuring King Promise. This project, facilitated through SW6 Studios, honors the historical connection between Ghana and Chelsea, most notably the legacy of former midfielder Michael Essien. Djan Jr. emphasized that such partnerships are vital for showcasing Ghanaian talent to international audiences and opening doors for future creative collaborations with global brands.

Meanwhile, rapper Lyrical Joe (Joseph Gamor) has offered a glimpse into the creative resilience that defines the modern Ghanaian artist. In a revealing interview on Joy Prime’s 'Changes' with Nikki Samonas, he discussed how his songwriting is heavily inspired by the motivational lyrics of reggae legend Bob Marley and his own personal life struggles. These themes of perseverance are central to his new single, 'Warrior Sound,' which features Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones. Lyrical Joe noted that the collaboration had been years in the making, reflecting a shared commitment to addressing substantive life challenges through music.

The industry's development is also being marked by academic milestones and regional recognition. Highlife and Hiplife artist Dr Cryme recently graduated from Methodist University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Studies, highlighting the trend of entertainers pursuing higher education. Additionally, the 15th Central Music Awards (CMA) is set to celebrate regional excellence on November 28, 2026, in Cape Coast. Heritage Promotions has shortlisted 261 nominees across 36 categories, with Kwesi Taadi and Kojo Vypa among the top contenders for Artiste of the Year. These events collectively underscore a maturing industry that is increasingly focused on professionalism, education, and mutual support.
