Abla Dzifa Gomashie launches December in GH 2026 campaign

Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Abla Dzifa Gomashie officially launched the 2026 edition of "December in GH" on October 20, 2026. Operating under the theme "Ghana to the World," the initiative is designed to cement Ghana’s status as a premier global tourism hub while ensuring that seasonal festivities generate tangible economic returns for the domestic workforce. The campaign marks a strategic move to transition beyond holiday celebrations toward a model of sustainable economic empowerment for those in the creative and hospitality sectors. During the launch event, Minister Gomashie emphasized that the success of this year's program will be measured by more than just visitor numbers. The ministry is placing a heightened focus on the creation of sustainable jobs for Ghanaians, specifically targeting opportunities for content creators, booking agents, and hoteliers. By aligning festive activities with professional development and business growth, the initiative aims to create a lasting legacy for local workers that extends well beyond the month of December. The "December in GH" 2026 campaign also encourages visitors to explore all regions of the country, enjoy local cuisine, and engage with diverse cultural experiences. This strategic focus on regional inclusion is intended to distribute tourism revenue more broadly, ensuring that local communities across the country benefit from the increased economic activity. The campaign seeks to enhance Ghana’s reputation as a top-tier destination while providing a larger platform for local talent to showcase their work to a global audience. As preparations for the festive season begin, the Ministry of Tourism remains committed to leveraging tourism for national development. By focusing on job creation and regional diversity, the government seeks to ensure that the festivities serve as a powerful engine for economic growth and cultural pride. The initiative stands as a cornerstone of Ghana’s broader strategy to showcase its unique heritage to the world while providing sustainable livelihoods for its citizens in the tourism and creative industries.
