The eighth edition of the Tertiary Business Sense Challenge (TBSC) is heading toward a historic conclusion as three of Ghana’s premier academic institutions—the University of Cape Coast (UCC), the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)—prepare for a monumental three-way national final this Saturday. This year's competition has narrowed down from a field of top tertiary schools across the country to these three former champions, each bringing a formidable reputation and distinct tactical approach to the high-stakes business and economics quiz. The road to the final saw dominant performances and nail-biting finishes. UCC secured its place in the championship round with a commanding victory over the Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU), finishing with a score of 45 against GCTU’s 15.5. Defending champions UGBS booked their return to the final by triumphing over Pentecost University (PU) with a comfortable 32.5 to 17 win. Meanwhile, KNUST survived a tense encounter against Accra Technical University (ATU), narrowly edging out their opponents with a 27-26 scoreline to secure their spot in the final stage. Each finalist enters the stage with a unique narrative and specific ambitions. UCC is aiming to cement its legacy by capturing a third national title, while the UGBS team is focused on maintaining their status as the reigning champions through a successful title defense. KNUST, perhaps the most consistent participant in the competition’s history, enters the final for the sixth consecutive year, hoping to finally translate their steady presence at the top into a definitive championship victory. The clash represents not just a test of academic knowledge, but a battle for institutional prestige among the nation's leading business schools. Beyond the rivalry, the TBSC serves as a critical platform for fostering business acumen, critical thinking, and economic literacy among university students. Supported by various professional bodies and corporate institutions, the challenge aims to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world business scenarios. As the grand finale approaches this weekend, the competition continues to highlight the intellectual talent within Ghana’s tertiary sector while challenging future leaders to apply their skills in a high-pressure environment.
