Emmanuel Adams and Vincent Aidoo sentenced to 20 years for motorbike robbery

The Bekwai Circuit Court has sentenced Emmanuel Adams and Vincent Aidoo to 20 years in prison each for their roles in a violent robbery at Edwenase. The two men were convicted on charges of conspiracy and robbery after a trial that detailed how they ambushed a teenage motorbike rider using an electric shocker. The judgment, delivered by the court, underscores the judiciary's stance against the rising incidence of street robberies and the use of weapons to target vulnerable individuals. The prosecution's case established that the incident occurred on October 4, 2026. The victim, 16-year-old Bismark Boafo, had just finished dropping his mother off and was riding back when he was intercepted by the convicts. According to the evidence presented in court, Adams used an electric shocker to incapacitate the teenager, causing him to lose control of the situation. This allowed the pair to forcibly take possession of the motorbike and escape, leaving the young victim behind. Following the attack, police investigations led to the arrest of both Adams and Aidoo. During the legal proceedings, the court heard that both defendants admitted to their roles in the crime. While Adams faced additional specific charges regarding the execution of the conspiracy, the presiding judge ruled that the sentences for both counts would run concurrently, resulting in a total of 20 years for each man. The conviction brings a sense of justice to the victim and his family, who have dealt with the aftermath of the harrowing encounter. This sentencing reflects a broader judicial effort to curb violent crime in the Ashanti Region. By imposing substantial prison terms, the Bekwai Circuit Court aims to send a clear message to potential offenders that the use of force and weapons to commit robberies will meet with severe legal consequences. The recovery of the facts in this case highlights the importance of police-community cooperation in ensuring that perpetrators of such crimes are brought to book.
