The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has announced the successful completion of extensive road repairs and paving works on Kwame Nkrumah Avenue. This critical infrastructure project was undertaken to address growing concerns over deteriorating road conditions, specifically the prevalence of potholes and surface abrasions that have significantly hindered vehicular movement in recent months. By rehabilitating this key thoroughfare, the assembly aims to enhance road safety and ensure a smoother flow of traffic through one of the capital's busiest corridors.
During a final inspection of the site, the Mayor of Accra, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, expressed satisfaction with the quality of the work executed. He noted that the maintenance was essential for easing the chronic traffic congestion that often plagues the Central Business District (CBD). The Mayor highlighted that the previous state of the road had caused unnecessary delays for commuters and impacted the efficiency of transport services within the city center. The completion of these repairs is expected to provide immediate relief to both motorists and pedestrians who frequent the area.
Mayor Allotey further emphasized that the AMA is committed to a culture of regular maintenance to support the vibrant commercial activities that define the Accra metropolis. He argued that well-maintained infrastructure is a prerequisite for economic growth, as it reduces travel times and operational costs for businesses. As the newly paved road opens for full use, the Mayor urged motorists to drive responsibly and strictly adhere to traffic regulations to preserve the integrity of the road surface and ensure the safety of all road users.
