The Moroccan government has unveiled the primary objectives of its 2027 Draft Finance Bill, placing youth employment and social protection at the forefront of the national agenda. During a Cabinet meeting chaired by King Mohammed VI, officials outlined a strategic roadmap aimed at stimulating economic activity while providing relief to households. The proposed budget targets an economic growth rate of 4.7% for 2026 and aims to keep the national budget deficit at 3% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), reflecting a balance between social spending and fiscal responsibility.
A major component of the bill is the introduction of a national youth program specifically designed to align educational outcomes with the demands of the private sector. By focusing on market reforms and supporting small enterprises, the government intends to create sustainable job opportunities for the country's younger population. This initiative is part of a broader effort to tackle structural unemployment and ensure that the benefits of economic growth are shared more widely across the workforce.
In addition to employment initiatives, the 2027 budget prioritises the expansion of social safety nets to protect household purchasing power. The plan includes measures to increase health insurance coverage and strengthen social protection systems. To support long-term stability, the government is also committing resources to strategic sectors such as water security and renewable energy. These investments are intended to bolster Morocco's resilience against environmental challenges and enhance regional development, ensuring that all parts of the kingdom benefit from the upcoming fiscal cycle.
