Bono East Regional Minister Francis Owusu Antwi has conducted a monitoring visit to several feeder road projects in the Nkoranza North District under the Big Push initiative. The Minister expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of the works, noting that the infrastructure developments are currently progressing ahead of their scheduled timelines. These projects, funded by the Consolidated Fund, are part of the government's broader strategy to improve connectivity and socio-economic conditions within the region.
During the inspection, the Minister visited several critical routes currently undergoing upgrades. Data from the site visits indicates that the Bono Manso-Kranka-Pinhini road is now 56% complete. Other key sections are also showing significant progress, with the Tankor-Fiema-Buabeng-Busunua road at 46.8% completion and the Bodom-Senya-Bonte-Busunua road reaching 43.6%. Mr. Antwi commended the contractors for maintaining a high work rate, which has allowed these projects to advance faster than originally anticipated.
While praising the general quality of the construction, the Minister also addressed specific community concerns regarding the durability of U-drains in certain areas. To ensure the longevity of the infrastructure, he ordered an immediate technical assessment of the drainage systems to rectify any potential defects. He emphasized that the primary goal of the Big Push initiative is to provide durable infrastructure that improves access to essential services such as schools and healthcare facilities, while simultaneously creating jobs for local residents through construction activities.
Regional stakeholders remain optimistic that the completion of these feeder roads will provide a significant boost to the local economy, particularly in the agriculture and tourism sectors. Improved road networks are expected to facilitate the efficient transport of farm produce to markets and enhance visitor access to tourism sites within the district. The government’s commitment to these upgrades reflects its ongoing focus on rural development and the equitable distribution of infrastructure projects across the Bono East Region.
