Wallahs Academy Senior High School in the Ho Municipality has marked its 20th anniversary by settling the medical bills of four vulnerable patients at the Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH). The initiative, which forms part of the school's corporate social responsibility program, specifically targeted individuals facing financial hardships. This intervention allowed two patients who had been discharged but detained due to unpaid debts to finally return home to their families.
Among those receiving support for ongoing treatment was a preterm baby currently in the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Hospital administrators expressed profound gratitude to the school's leadership, noting that such philanthropic gestures are essential in relieving the burden on both the facility and the patients. The donation ensures that the hospital can continue providing critical care to the region's most vulnerable residents without the immediate hurdle of unpaid balances hindering service delivery.
The founder of Wallahs Academy, Mr. Maxwell Wallahs Affram, stated during the presentation that the school remains deeply committed to social responsibility and community development. He emphasized that the donation was a way of giving back to the community that has supported the institution over the past two decades. Mr. Affram also took the opportunity to highlight the school's academic progress, noting that the academy recently achieved a 100% pass rate in the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
In his concluding remarks, Mr. Affram called upon other private organizations and individuals to provide similar assistance to the hospital, pointing out that many other patients still require financial support to cover their medical costs. The school leadership reiterated its goal of balancing academic excellence with a strong sense of civic duty, ensuring that students and the broader institution remain active participants in solving local challenges.
