GTBank Ghana Donates Essential Medical Equipment to Greater Accra Regional Hospital's Paediatric Oncology Unit

Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Ltd has reaffirmed its commitment to child healthcare by donating a suite of essential medical equipment to the Paediatric Oncology Unit of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, commonly known as Ridge Hospital. On September 11, 2026, the bank handed over critical supplies designed to enhance the quality of care and treatment outcomes for young patients battling cancer. This intervention comes at a crucial time when specialized oncology resources are in high demand across the nation's healthcare facilities, particularly for vulnerable populations.

The donation included a range of specialized items such as infusion pumps, chemotherapy spill kits, gloves, and treatment chairs, all of which are vital for the safe and effective administration of cancer therapies. Infusion pumps are particularly critical in paediatric oncology for delivering precise doses of medication over extended periods, while the provision of chemotherapy spill kits ensures a safer environment for both health workers and patients by managing the hazardous nature of oncological drugs. These tools are expected to streamline operations within the unit and provide a more comfortable environment for children undergoing taxing treatment regimens.

During the presentation ceremony, representatives from GTBank emphasized that the donation is a core component of their corporate social responsibility strategy, which prioritizes healthcare support and community well-being. They noted that supporting children in their fight against cancer is a priority for the bank, reflecting a desire to see improved survival rates through better access to medical resources. In response, officials from the Greater Accra Regional Hospital expressed profound gratitude, highlighting that these supplies directly address critical gaps in their oncology care infrastructure and will immediately benefit the children currently on the ward.

This gesture by GTBank reflects a growing trend of corporate involvement in Ghana's health sector, especially in specialized fields like oncology which often require expensive, high-tech equipment that can strain public hospital budgets. By alleviating some of the logistical and resource burdens at Ridge Hospital, the donation is expected to significantly improve the patient experience for children and their families during the challenging journey of cancer recovery. As the hospital continues to serve as a key referral point in the capital, such private-sector partnerships remain vital for strengthening the overall healthcare delivery system for the next generation.
