Nexans Kabelmetal Ghana Hosts Inaugural Grid Reliability Workshop to Modernize National Power Infrastructure

Nexans Kabelmetal Ghana Ltd, the nation's leading cable manufacturer, has hosted its inaugural Grid Reliability Workshop to address the critical need for resilient electrical infrastructure. Held in September 2026, the event brought together key stakeholders from across the energy sector to strategize on improving the stability of Ghana's power distribution networks. The workshop signals a proactive shift by private sector leaders to collaborate with utility providers and regulators to ensure the national grid can meet growing energy demands under the administration of President John Mahama.

The central theme of the workshop focused on transitioning from simply providing high-quality individual components to implementing comprehensive, integrated solutions. CEO Alexander Quarcoopome highlighted that while quality cables are essential, the overall resilience of the network depends on how these components interact within a larger ecosystem. By moving toward integrated solutions, the industry aims to minimize outages and improve the longevity of electrical installations across the country, ensuring that infrastructure investments yield long-term reliability for both industrial and domestic consumers.

Global Offer Grid Senior Manager Moussa Kafal emphasized the necessity of enhanced visibility across network systems. According to Kafal, real-time data and system-wide monitoring are vital for timely decision-making and rapid response to technical faults. Participants at the workshop engaged in deep-dive discussions regarding the operational challenges currently facing the electricity value chain, ranging from technical losses to the integration of modern grid technologies. This technical exchange is seen as vital for modernizing the power sector to support Ghana's broader economic and industrialization goals.

The workshop concluded with a call for stronger collaboration among all players in the electricity value chain, including manufacturers, distributors, and government agencies. As Ghana continues to expand its industrial base and urban centers, the insights gained from this inaugural event are expected to inform future infrastructure projects and maintenance protocols. Nexans Kabelmetal’s initiative underscores the importance of public-private synergy in achieving the long-term goal of a reliable, modern, and efficient national power grid.
