The Volta North Regional Police Command has arrested 31-year-old Saviour Dzadze in Kpando for the unlawful possession of military-grade weaponry and suspected narcotics. The arrest, which took place on September 14, 2026, followed a formal complaint from a resident, Dzodzi Kofi Kpakpamikpe, who alleged that the suspect had threatened him at gunpoint. Police acted swiftly on the report to take the suspect into custody.
During a subsequent search of Dzadze’s residence, officers discovered an AK-47 assault rifle, a pump-action shotgun, and a locally manufactured single-barrel gun. In addition to the firearms, authorities found suspected narcotics and evidence of cultivation on the premises. The discovery of such a diverse cache of weapons in a private residence has raised significant security concerns within the regional command.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Dzadze allegedly acquired the AK-47 assault rifle by trading suspected Indian hemp (cannabis). Regarding the other firearms found in his possession, the suspect reportedly claimed they were provided to him by family members. Police are currently scrutinizing these claims as they work to uncover the broader network involved in the acquisition and distribution of these illegal arms.
Saviour Dzadze is currently being held in police custody and was scheduled to appear before a court on September 16, 2026. The Volta North Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to tackling violent crime and illegal weapon possession in the area. Officers are continuing their investigations, with a focus on identifying and apprehending any accomplices connected to the suspect’s activities.
